Dear Mr. Kelsey

I have collected autographs for over 20 years. When I was in college I started writing to celebrities and asking them what they would tell a class of elementary school students. Over the years I have gotten over 200 letter and signed pictures to my students. I think that by these very busy people taking the time to share their thoughts with students, it shows the power of education. I hope you enjoy my collection

Pat Neshek: Pitcher for the Twins

This is one of my favorite responses. Pat Neshek is a pitcher for the Minnesota Twins. He also has a web site and is an autograph collector himself. His website is:
http://eteamz.active.com/PatNeshek/
When I wrote to him I asked him if he could send a baseball with a note to the kids on it. At the time he was playing in AAA so the baseball is an International League official ball with a great note that says,
“If you want something bad enough when you are young & don’t stop thinking about it everyday til you get older, your dreams will come true!!!”

A couple interesting things to point out, first, notice on his signature that he actually draws in the baseball seams in the letter P. Also, He is a submarine pitcher which is how I pitched in college. He is much better than I was. Pretty cool to have a letter on a baseball form a guy that is currently playing in the playoffs!
